Hua Hin
Hua Hin is a pretty touristic by now. It's not so easy to find a Thai restaurant, but Swedish, German or Italian menus are no problem. The rooms of hotels are also quite expensive, especially in high season.

Rantepao-Pendolo

The road is quite good. It takes 9 hours by private car, a bit more bybus. Litha bus company is excellent.   B
est hotel in Pendolo is the Hotel Mulia, a bit out of town on the western side of the lake. The luxury room costs 70.000 Rp + 10% tax, there are cheaper bungalows by the lake. The restaurant looks good, but the food is bad.

Pendolo-Tentena

Most people take the boat from Pendolo to Tentena, this is a 3 hour boattrip leaving in the morning.
If you have your own transport (4x4) the most beautiful road is a track going along the western shore of the lake. However, if it has rained, you will not succeed. There's also an orchid garden where you can spend the night, but you have to bring your own food. Accomodation is basic, no electricity but beautiful white sand beach.

Accommodation Tentena

Best hotel in town is the Hotel Intim Danau (not in LP). They have rooms with view on the lake for 80.000 Rp including taxes and breakfast. They have hot water, the owner is very friendly.

Siury cottages is also good but 20 km out of the center on the lake border in the direction of Bada. They charge 60.000 Rp. Breakfast is extra at 5.000 Rp.

Restaurants

Lotus restaurant is next door. The restaurant looks very good and the food is great.

What to do

The waterfall of Salopa is an absolute must. It consists of several small cascades, and it's possible to climb all the way up.
Lore Lindu: it's difficult to get up to date info on trekking to Lore Lindu. Forget it during rainy season, even with 4x4. There used to be a MAF flight evey Tuesday and Friday to Gintu, but that seems out of service nowadays. There are companies offering tours, but they sometimes ask ridiculous prices. I got one report from someone saying there was a Chinese businessman, Mr. Chang, who went there regularly with his van to deliver goods. He takes travellers as well.
