Hua Hin
Hua Hin is a pretty touristic by now. It's not so easy to find a Thai restaurant, but Swedish, German or Italian menus are no problem. The rooms of hotels are also quite expensive, especially in high season.

Hotel Bar Mali is located on the peninsula. It's not really clean, and it has some rooms for prostitutes. The bar has a good atmosphere. Le Campement is the most popular place among backpackers, located at the gate of the city. They charge 2500 CFA pp for a tent and 10.000 CFA for a double, but rooms are not very good.

In Sévaré

- Sévaré is at 15 km of Mopti. It's supposed to be a bit quieter then Mopti where there are a lot of guides offering their services, but we didn't have much problems with them in Mopti either.
Several people recommended Malick Napo as a good guide to go to Dogon country. He speaks Dogon language, knows all the villages and is respected by the chiefs. You can reach him through the Hotel Débo.
- Hotel Oasis charges 10.000 CFA for a double and 2.500 CFA pp for a tent.
- Recommended is the Auberge Teranga opposite the customs office. They charge 6.000 CFA for a double. The hotel is good, they have a good kitchen and a nice garden.

What to do in Mopti

- A visit of the market and the harbour is worth the effort. The Bozo bar is a good place to observe all the action in the harbour.
- You can also take a pirogue to one of the Bozo villages in the middle of the river.
- There's also a souvenirmarket near the water tower.
- There's also a nice mosque in Sudan style.

Getting out of Mopti

- You can take a pinasse to Timbuktu (see general info section for details).
- There's also 1 plane a week to Timbuktu (88.000 CFA return).
- There are also bachés (pick-ups) leaving from the Campement to Djenné. When it's full, they'll leave. We started waiting from 7.30 am and had to wait 3 hours. Price is 1.500 CFA pp + 1.000 CFA for a backpack. They leave daily, also on non-market days.
