There are no budget oriented travel guides for Mali itself, so you'll have to buy a bigger guide on West Africa, like the Lonely Planet or the Rough Guide. My personal favourite was the Rough Guide, but everybody has to decide for himself. Also, as long as the Rough guide did not get an update, the LP is the preferred option.
Introduction The report you find here has been written by Luc Van den Broeck. He visited Mali for 4 weeks from 24/10/98 till 23/11/98. If you have any questions, you can e-mail him. This is the trip he made: - Bamako - Mopti - Timbouctou - Gao - Hombori - Douentza - Sanga - Mopti - Djenné - Segou - Bamako Travel guides There are no budget oriented travel guides for Mali itself, so you'll have to buy a bigger guide on West Africa, like the Lonely Planet or the Rough Guide. This is a non-commercial organisation based in Bruges, Belgium. They have an incredible amount of info coming from guidebooks, leaflets but also reports from members. Since 2001 you can now get a lot of these reports online!! Membership is only 25 Euro a year, and this includes a good magazine they publish every 2 months. Have a look at www.wegwijzer.be. I myself am a member since almost 20 years now. |
