Customs are fairly easy. you need to get a stamp on the boat and present to customs. Most nationalities simply need a valid passport. In order to avoid hassles with changing money, it's best to do so on the boat. |

I had the LP (5th edition 3/2001) with me and as usual it gave very good info. it reads easily and in a few hours you get a good idea of what to see. it also pointed out Hotel Ali in Ali which is the center of budget tourism in Marrakesh. There is a good trekking section with trekkings in Toubkal and El Gouna region. however, some minor negative points are that the descriptions of the trekkings are not good enough to do it on your own, especially distances and timing can be incorrect. Also there's almost no info on the region north of El Gouna. I read about it in a French guide, and the region there is absolutely great.

I arrived by plane in Marrakesh airport. We had to queue a little bit, but finally everything went smooth. No touts at the airport. There is only 1 money exchange boot, rates are the same as in the city. A trip into town should certainly not cost more then 50 DH, although I got slightly ripped off with 60 DH in a minibus with 6 other tourists. |

This part of Morocco is definitely worth visiting. Most people go from Marrakesh over the highest mountain pass (Tizi'n Tichka) by road to Ouarzazate, although there are also flights from Casablanca and even Paris. South of Ouarzazate, most people do a circuit to Zagora, then Merzouga, then returning over Tinerhir, Todra gorge and Gorges des Dades. |

The Toubkal region is a very popular trekking area, and it's also very easy to arrange practicalities. If you have a small group yourself, even 2 people is OK, the best thing to do is to arrange transportation to Imlil yourself. To do this take a collective taxi to Asni and from there a truck or other taxi to Imlil. It's best to do this in the morning, because we met a couple who had arrived late afternoon, and there was no public transportation anymore, so they had to take a taxi at a very high price. Once in Imlil it is extremely easy to find a guide. |
